How We Pick Tours

How this site sources filming locations, checks every tour is bookable, and orders listings by traveller reviews, not commission.

What This Site Does

Movie Set Tours is an independent guide to visiting real film and TV filming locations, and to the bookable tours that visit them. It currently covers 57 set tour pages, 16 franchise hubs, 30 destination guides, 95 filming location guides and 40 question pages, spanning 16 countries, with 554 live tours listed.

The site is research and reporting rather than first-person reviewing. No individual author claims to have taken the tours, and pages are written in that spirit: reported, sourced and checked, not narrated from personal experience.

How Locations Are Sourced

Coverage starts with demand. The site looks at which films and shows people actually search for filming locations of, using search-volume data across 1,000 film and TV titles, and builds guides around that interest.

Every filming location on a page comes from published sources: film commissions, tourism boards, official attraction sites and reputable press. Those sources are listed under Sources on each page, so readers can check the trail themselves.

How Tours Are Chosen And Checked

Every tour listed was found on booking platforms and confirmed as currently bookable before being added. Tours found to be out of stock or no longer listed are removed rather than left to go stale.

Ratings, review counts and prices are read from the live tour listing. Prices appear only where a current US dollar price was confirmed; where no confirmed price exists, none is shown.

Listings are ordered by how many travellers have reviewed a tour, never by commission. No tour operator or studio pays to be listed, and the site is not affiliated with any studio, production company or rights holder.

How The Site Earns Money

Some links to booking platforms earn the site a commission if a reader books through them, at no extra cost to the reader. That commission never decides which tours appear or how they are ranked. Ordering is by review count alone, so a smaller-earning tour can and does sit above a bigger one.

What The Images Are

Photographs on the site are generated location imagery of the real places, not film stills. No studio artwork, posters or actor likenesses are used, which keeps the site independent of the studios and rights holders behind the productions it covers.
